Dr. Kristin Girshin PT, DPT

Founder, Physical Therapist

Doctor of physical therapy and founder/owner of IN FOCUS Pediatric Therapy and Wellness, Kristin has extensive experience in the field of pediatric care. Kristin specializes in treating health conditions that arise from living with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and other neuromotor and genetic conditions. Providing a whole-body developmental treatment approach, Kristin utilizes non-invasive electrical stimulation and spinal neuromodulation techniques for optimal treatment outcomes. In addition to private practice care, Kristin provides her expertise in designing treatment protocols for clinical trials for FDA approval of the SCiP device, writing material for guidebooks on treatment, and research contributions for an industry leader in neuromodulation, SpineX.

Drawing on her passion to support optimal physical health in the home, workplace, and communities, Kristin has taught undergraduate and graduate students in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Ithaca College and has taught continuing education coursework on the use of non-invasive peripheral electrical stimulation as a lab assistant for Susan Hastings. 

Before pursuing a career in Physical Therapy, Kristin graduated from Cornell University and worked as a Human Resource Manager at a Fortune 10 company. Prior to that, Dr. Kristin worked at the United Nations to improve employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

Dr. Kristin is deeply committed to providing best practices in pediatric care. She holds a number of certifications in specialized techniques. She has worked and studied with world renowned e-stim pioneers Dr. Susan Hastings, Gerti Motavalli, and Judy Carmick and is trained in advanced techniques such as serial casting of the lower extremity, support garments, myofascial release, pelvic floor treatment, postural control, and neuromotor facilitation. With over a decade of experience working with kids, families, and teams in schools, daycares, homes, hospitals, and out-patient clinics, Kristin draws on her vast experience and wealth of knowledge to create systematic treatment programs for her clients and to provide consultation services for businesses and health care organizations.

She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, American Academy of Pediatric Physical Therapy, International Functional Electrical Stimulation Society, Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association, and CUCC Family & Youth group.
